A biomass boiler is a carbon neutral alternative to your standard boiler. They operate in an almost identical user-friendly fashion, but they use organic material rather than gas or oil.
Biomass is a term for fuel made from organic material, (typically wood). It is widely available in user friendly pellet form, as well as in logs. Biomass is considered carbon neutral, as the fuel source (trees), have already offset the carbon output of burning it, through their absorption of carbon whilst growing.
Biomass is a sustainable, renewable fuel source that releases a fraction of the CO2, compared to burning fossil fuels, such as gas or oil. Modern biomass boilers are also highly efficient, operating as efficiently as a modern gas boiler. This means not only lower carbon emissions, but also much lower particulate emissions.
Biomass is an environmentally friendly alternative boiler system, to propane or oil fueled boilers.
