Global warming and severe air pollution force people to consider green energy sources. Recently, a customer from Indonesia inquired about a biomass boiler to replace their coal fired boiler in a sugar refinery. There are definitely more and more people paying attention to environmental protection and looking for more efficient and cleaner solutions.

Coal to Biomass: Cleaner and more efficient

Although coal is a very cheap fuel, it burns relatively inefficiently, which means that it requires more fuel to burn than more efficient fuels. But now we can clearly feel the pollution is getting worse, the government has taken measures to require enterprises to use clean renewable fuels, coal as a heavy source of pollution is being replaced by natural gas and biomass.

In Indonesia, there are many abundant biomass resources. Biomass is gradually being developed and used as fuel in boilers, power plants and other equipment. Coal-fired boilers are being converted to biomass boilers. Sugarcane is used as the main raw material in the sugar mill, and bagasse can be used as fuel for biomass boiler during processing.

Bagasse is the fibrous material left over after the stalks of sugar cane or sorghum have been crushed to extract juice. It is used as biofuel for industrial boilers. Sugarcane is also the main raw material of sugar mill production. Sugar mills with bagasse steam boiler is cheap, convenient supply of heat required for processing. The bagasse biomass boilers of Zozen boilers have the advantages of high efficiency, low operating cost, light weight, less infrastructure investment and short installation cycle.
